On Monday, November 2, 2015 from 1 – 5 p.m., Hiatus will be participating in Sparks of Light, a day where spas across the country offer services for free to those battling cancer.

Vicky Weis created Faye’s Light in 2005, a non-profit in the Chicago area that provides spa services for those undergoing active treatment for cancer.  Vicky had been the primary caretaker during her mother’s 13-month battle with lung, brain and liver cancer. As her mother’s caretaker, she noticed how much her mother loved getting her nails polished and hands massaged. Observing other patients, she found that many going through treatment experienced isolation and feeling unattractive and that touch seemed to alleviate those negative feelings.

“For many, the only touch they were receiving was when a needle or tube was being inserted into them.  After my mom passed I knew I wanted to do something to honor her and her experience. Watching the amazing courage, grace, and love that she emanated every day during those 13 months changed my life,” said Weis.

Faye’s Light was born from the idea that the benefits of touch are vital to those undergoing cancer treatment. This year is the inaugural year of Sparks of Light, a one-day benefit offering free spa services to those who have a current cancer diagnosis.  Hiatus is excited to participate in all three locations in Austin, Dallas and Plano.

A choice of Hiatus Massage or Hiatus Facial is offered to those who are battling cancer.  The service is free to the recipient during the Sparks of Light day.*

Please call the spa to book a service.  For more information or to book an appointment call Austin 512.362.5777, Dallas 214.352.4111 or Plano 972-836-0500.
