Your back feels like concrete, you have daily tension headaches and your neck cracks every time you look to the right. It is clearly time for a massage, but which one?

At Hiatus, we offer a wide range of massage services to cater to your needs. For the massage connoisseur, one look at the massage spa menu and the answer is clear. But for spa newbies, making a selection can be overwhelming. Here is a little help guiding you through our menu.

Swedish

Swedish massage is the most popular type of massage in the United States.  If you’ve never had a massage before, start here.

Swedish massage is both very relaxing and deeply healing. Using slow, broad techniques, customized aromatherapy, warm oil and lots of hot towels, the Swedish massage is guaranteed to ease tense muscles and put you in a state of Zen.

Deep tissue

Deep tissue massage is focused on realigning deeper layers of the muscles and connective tissues. Massage strokes are designed to affect  the belly of the muscle and addresses muscle attachment.

“If you have a stubborn knot between your shoulder blades that just won’t go away, then it would be best to schedule a deep tissue massage,” said Mason Hickman lead massage therapist at Hiatus. “This is not always the most relaxing experience, but it’s very therapeutic.”

Sports

Contrary to popular belief, sports massage is not only intended for professional athletes. It is also designed for people who are involved in physical activity.

If you feel sore from working out, book a sports massage. The massage therapist focuses on problem areas – pulled hamstring or frozen shoulder, for instance – and use trigger points to break down adhesions. Plus, it stimulates circulation of blood and lymph fluids, leaving you with a good full-body flush.

Stress Fix

“Stress fix massage uses Swedish massage with some deep tissue techniques, along with acupressure points and foot reflexology to deliver that perfect balance of relaxing and therapeutic,” Hickman said.

Aveda’s Stress Fix aroma is used throughout the massage.  Its aroma, infused with French lavender, lavandin and cleary sage, has been clinically proven to relieve feelings of stress.  Combining the power of touch with the power of aromatherapy, we guarantee you will leave feeling relaxed.
